What I’ve learned in my daily struggle to get a delicious dinner on the table….you can’t go wrong with quiche. I mean, it’s eggs in a pie crust…. Quiche has been a fan favorite in my home for years because of how easy it is to make and how little I have to fuss with baby girl to get her to eat it.  I thought I had exhausted all possibilities and tried every recipe combination known to woman. That was until I attended the dinner party of a good friend, Dionne Christopher.

I love the hint of savory herbal flavors in summer drinks such as basil, rosemary and mint. I’ve spent this long winter/cold spring testing out different smoothie and drink recipes for fun. I love experimenting with fresh herbs, and mixing in different syrups and fruit purees.

I’ve finally settled on my signature summer mocktail and I’ll be serving it at this year’s Mother Day brunch. (Can you believe Mother’s Day is 2 WEEKS away?!) We’re keeping it small and simple this year and I’m responsible for wowing the crowd with my fun brunch-friendly mocktails.

As a comfort enthusiast, I stay fully dedicated to being comfortable in my clothes 100% of the time. Ok, 1000% of the time.
As the Creative Director of my own design studio, I spend half of the day at home on my laptop designing magazines, event invites and collateral, taking conference calls and sometimes taking the midday nap 🙂  As the full time mom to a Kindergartener, I spend half of the day on the playground at school pickups, chatting with parents, teachers and  school administrators, entertaining my 5 year old, cooking, cleaning and guiding my kid through pages and pages of homework.

I invest in outerwear because we spend SO much time walking around NYC. This signature red plaid peacoat has been a staple for warmer winter days. From classic to glam….a tartan inspired coat like our favorite featured below makes a statement and provides serious versatility all season long. Continue to scroll for 3 ways to style this adorable Cat & Jack coat. Basics, for everyday, a playful spin with lots of accessories and a glammed out look complete with mommy’s fur stole.

The Lawrences

Finally, all smiles for both of us at dinnertime. #stressfree

My main goal in 2018 is to simplify my life and allow myself to have a bit more breathing room. I literally feel like I’m running a marathon everyday from 6am to 10pm. From the moment I roll out of my bed (or off the couch!) to prepping for school drop-off to my busy 8-hour work day to bath time at night, my life is a series of non-stop action.

I recently figured out that the most stressful part of my day was dinner time. The age old question, “What’s for dinner?”  plagued me until I chose the path of least resistance with my 5-year old of particular tastes.

Am I the only one who feels like this?

My 5 year old daughter leaves a trail of Cheerio dust, Legos and Shoppkins all over my home. Her fingerprints decorate my walls and she seems oblivious to the fact that clothes belong IN the dirty clothes hamper…not next to it or scattered down the hallway.

We moms work so hard. Stay at home moms, working moms, moms who work from home, single moms….all of us. In addition to keeping the staff in line at work, we’ve got to keep the little ones in line at home. Add laundry, cooking, cleaning….and all the BS housework in between and you’ve got a recipe for one tired Mama….(and one dirty house.)

As a Chicagoan, I consider myself a pizza connoisseur. Ever since I moved here, I’ve been searching for pizza that compares to that of my hometown, but  I’ve always come up short. (Chicago does it best)  As a non-New Yorker, identifying the best joints can be difficult when there’s a pizzeria on practically every corner.

Enter Skinny Pizza! Nestled in the food court of  Hudson Eats downtown is one of the most spectacular pizzerias I’ve found  in NYC.

Most people don’t know  how perfect of a destination Brookfield Place is for family activities on the weekends! Overlooking the Hudson River in lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City, it’s an amazing location for luxury shopping, sightseeing and great dining. Add their fun-filled events schedule to the mix, and you have all the pieces to the perfect weekend with your family! (Plus there’s a Saks Fifth Avenue and TWO Starbucks. What more do busy moms need on the weekends?) See below for links to the schedule for The Saturday Show at Brookfield for the kids, and an itinerary for the perfect weekend day at this beautiful downtown center. We made a day of it, inviting several friends to join us for a holiday kick off event. I danced to all the latest kid’s pop tunes until my feet were sore (I should have worn flats), had a fantastic lunch sponsored by Skinny Pizza and Sprinkles cupcakes and took photos with the jolliest Santa Clause in NYC.

This on-the-go breakfast packs perfectly into a 16oz or 8oz mason jar for a breakfast that travels well anywhere.

Full disclaimer: I do have to wake up 20 minutes earlier on the mornings when I pack these…but they work for both my breakfast and my kids lunches, so it’s totally worth it. I line everything up at night in the fridge so I don’t waste time searching for all the ingredients. My breakfast gets layered into a mason jar or a simple bowl while the kids’ servings go in plastic jars in their lunch bags.
